Darth Xylas is supremely selfish, the Dark Side having warped his mind beyond a hope. He is motivated only by power, and no longer believes in the notion of Good or Evil. He will do whatever it takes to get what he desires, and is not beneath any trick or treachery. Xylas' circle of friends is non-existent, but his incredible intelligence and undeniable charisma have given him many followers, and allies if any could be found amongst the Sith. Though he lacks remorse, and does not care for life, he is careful to protect the interests of both the Sith, and the followers who most command respect. This is only to ensure his own gains are not affected.

Any ties he once had to the Jedi are gone, and he regards their Order as a dead and ignorant religion that compelled Force-users to blind obedience. His hatred for the Jedi is well known amongst his peers, and is matched by a select few, one of them being Revan himself. He also hardens his hatred for the Mandalorians, seeing them as nothing more than war-mongerers. This conflicts with Xylas' desire to bring order and peace, though through force, to the galaxy.

Xylas' plans are lain with caution, and he only works in steps. Patience is a strong suit for the Sith Lord, refusing to give in to the trap of clouded judgement. He is also quick to understand his opponents, both on and off the battle field. Business-wise, he understands the importance of one bad leak...or one bad night, just s he does a dead Executive or CEO. Messages are powerful, and he navigates the corporate world with ease.

He also navigates the Sith hierarchy, as he possesses the charisma and knowledge necessary to impress not only Revan. but his circle. Mastery of magic requires a calling from the Dark Side, one few recieve, and fewer master. Some have gone mad, or become the victims of their own power, but Xylas has remained and grown stronger. Xylas is unafraid to display this, and has performed executions of those higher than him, to then take their place. Not wholly unique, but none so boldly do it as he does, earning him the moniker the "Black Spear".

Once the Sith became a recognized power, Xylas immediately set about organizing a legitimate business venture for the Sith. forming Sith Tech. Though the other Sith were jealous, or uncaring, some were willing to invest their large fortunes. This paid off dramatically, as his developed genius (alongside his experience with Reoublic technology) was enough to launch new lines of combat droid, pilot droids, weapons, ships, and armor that greatly aided the expansion of the Sith Empire.
